individual therapy

I offer psychotherapy for emerging adults and adults. I work with individuals to figure out their strengths, uncover patterns that have gotten them stuck and unlock new ways of thinking to increase personal growth and satisfaction. My goal is to provide my clients with individualized tools that they can use throughout their lifetime, no matter what obstacles they may face.

I strongly believe that human connection is one of the most important things in life. I aim to create that connection with my clients so that they can take that out into the world and lead satisfying and productive lives.

I was trained as a generalist and have experience working with a wide range of presenting issues such as:

• academic concerns and school adjustment
• depression and bipolar disorder
• eating disorders and body image concerns
• low self-esteem
• performance enhancement and perfectionism
• anxiety disorders and stress management
• general adjustment issues
• relationship and family concerns
• grief and loss
• sports psychology
• injured athletes
• sleep concerns

I am so grateful that I was able to work with you while I was at Northwestern. Your calm voice and deliberation were a salve to my heart, and your non-judgment and love was so comforting. I never felt like I should be ashamed or insecure to say something or to report how I had been doing that week. Because of the work you did with me, I have more trust to pursue things that scare me, knowing that I will learn and grow through them. My relationships have become stronger because I can be more vulnerable. You mean so much to me Sarah, and I don't know how I would have been able to get through those four years without you! Thank you for everything Sarah!

KIND WORDS FROM PAST CLIENTS

How long is each session?

I typically see clients on a weekly basis. However, there are instances in which I may work with someone more or less frequently.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Each session is 50 minutes in length.

How often will we meet?

How long you are in treatment depends on your goals and what you would like to accomplish. I work with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan to help you reach your goals. We will regularly review your goals to make sure you are getting what you want out of therapy. Some clients find that they have gotten what they need after a small number of sessions, and others like to work together on a more long-term basis.

How long will I be in therapy?

The information you share in therapy is confidential and will not be disclosed without your written permission. The rare circumstances in which I am legally obligated to disclose information is if you are in imminent danger of harming yourself or someone else, or in the case of current child/elder abuse. If such rare situations occur, I will make every effort to fully discuss it with you before taking action.

Are my visits confidential?

I work closely with a number of psychiatrists, medical doctors, and nutritionists to whom I can refer you if needed. I will communicate with your other providers on a regular basis to ensure that we are working together to best assist you.

What if I need medication or other services?

If you are already working with another medical provider, I will ask for your permission to contact that provider so that we can coordinate treatment.

What if I already have a psychiatrist or other medical provider?

My professional services are covered by Northwestern University’s Student Health Insurance. Northwestern students covered under the Student Plan are responsible for a $20 copayment for each session. If you have other insurance, it may cover services for out-of-network providers. If your health insurance will pay part of my fee, I will complete a monthly statement that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Do you accept insurance?

If you are struggling with these or any other concerns, please contact me to schedule an initial appointment. During this meeting, you will discuss what concerns bring you to therapy. This meeting will help clarify and identify your treatment options.
